Bibbona is a village like any other village in these surroundings; small and intimate, with lots of age-old houses and absolutely no life between 12.00-16.00 hrs except from the eventual “mad dogs and Englishmen”. (No
offence, please!) This rural little place lies at about 10 km. distance from Cecina, along the Tuscan coast, but once there we do not find any further directions and resort to asking particulars from an absolutely breathtakingly smart and stylish lady with long, jet-black curly hair, very sexy dressed to the nines. She is by no means a “spring chicken”, but has this special aura of sensuality and power. She cannot help me, but her authority is such that she summons her husband: “Come here and explain to this signora what she wants to know”. She nods to us, walks away and leaves us with the husband who is more or less shivering, but ever so relieved when he hears our request, because he does know the way. And this little experience proves that, although the Italian male is known as a macho, reality can disprove it. Later on, when we told the owner of this azienda about our meeting, she laughed and told us the village-gossip. The mother of the lady in question, in her seventies, is still an item of gossip and the daughter follows this example.

We continue our way, drive along a most beautiful landscape with meadows, vineyards, pine trees, olive groves, and little villages, nestled against the flanks of the hills.

Possibilities for sports/excursions:
Riding at about 2 km. distance; tennis at about 12 km distance (in Marina di Bibbona). The historical museum in Casale Marittimo can be visited, as well as the castle of Populonia, plus several nature parks such as the Macchia della Magona, the Parco dell’Ucellina and the Oasi di Bolgheri.
